Not worthy of you

Proverbs 31:3 KJV — Give not thy strength unto women, nor thy ways to that which destroyeth kings.

Not everything is worthy of you. Not everything is worth your time, energy and focus.

You are a King.

And part of being King is recognising your own worth and valuing who God has made you as being too precious to waste on that which is outside your Covenant.

Plant this truth in your heart, and let it do the work of Birthing this reality.

Your place called “there”

1 Kings 17:4 KJV — And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there.

Béla found his place on the banjo.

MJ found his place on the basketball court.

Different people have found their provision and prosperity when they’ve found their place called “there”.

It’s the place where they’re in their element. Like a fish in the ocean who has stopped trying to climb trees.

Thank you Lord for guiding me to my place called “there”.

Often reproved

Proverbs 29:1 KJV — He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.

The lede of this verse is “time”.

The time period of being “often reproved”.

And then the time period of “suddenly”.

There’s a long period of patiently reproving the person, and then a “sudden” moment of judgement.

Suddenly doesn’t just happen.

Be BOLD

Proverbs 28:1 KJV — The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.

What does the BOLD version of this idea look like?

What does the version with hair, claws, teeth and a loud roar look like?

What does it look like with more BOLDNESS?

Anything is possible

Proverbs 27:1 KJV — Boast not thyself of to morrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.

Today is yesterday’s harvest.

Ground was ploughed, seeds were sown, roots were put down.

What you see now, didn’t “just happen”. And what you’ll see tomorrow won’t “just happen” either.

Anything is possible.

And the promises you have from God’s Word are both the seed you get to sow, and the tools you use to bring in the harvest.

Lions in the street

Proverbs 26:13 KJV — The slothful [man] saith, [There is] a lion in the way; a lion [is] in the streets.

…are no reason to stay in bed.

Go out and kill the lions.

Today is too precious to waste, hiding from what you’re afraid of.

What’s holding you back?

Proverbs 25:4 KJV — Take away the dross from the silver, and there shall come forth a vessel for the finer.

What’s holding you back?

What’s keeping you from moving forward or progressing towards the goals you see in your heart?

You don’t need more focus on moving forward. You need to address the issues and habits and choices that are holding you back.

Especially the ones that live in the person you see in the mirror.

Stronger than you think

Proverbs 24:5 KJV — A wise man is strong; yea, a man of knowledge increaseth strength.

The Word of God in your life makes you stronger than you think.

The wisdom of God operating in you as standard is strength.

You have the strength you need to possess everything that Jesus died and rose again to give you.

Go and get your inheritance.

See beyond your eyes

Proverbs 23:1 KJV — When thou sittest to eat with a ruler, consider diligently what is before thee:

What’s in front of you is a delicious feast, spread on an expensive table cloth, with fancy cutlery and crockery.

That’s what your senses report.

But wisdom doesn’t walk by sight, but by faith: by viewing everything through the lens of the Word of God.

And at its simplest, wisdom just looks at what God is doing in the situation and copies on earth what is being done on Heaven.

When you sit at table, just do what you see your Father do.

Replace ‘fear’ with ‘love’

Let not thine heart envy sinners: but be thou in the fear of the LORD all the day long.

Proverbs 23:17

Here’s a cool thing to do when you read the OT as a born again New Testament believer.

Replace “fear of the Lord” with “love of God”.

Here’s what this looks like:

  1. Proverbs 1:7: The beginning of knowledge is the love of God, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
  2. Psalm 86:11: Teach me your way, O Lord, that I may walk in your truth; unite my heart to love your name.
  3. Proverbs 14:26: In the love of God one has strong confidence, and his children will have a refuge.
  4. Deuteronomy 10:12: And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you, but to love the Lord your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.
  5. Psalm 25:14: The friendship of the Lord is for those who love him, and he makes known to them his covenant.
  6. Proverbs 3:7: Be not wise in your own eyes; love the Lord, and turn away from evil.
  7. Proverbs 9:10: The love of God is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
  8. Psalm 119:105: Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
  9. Proverbs 19:23: The love of God leads to life, and whoever has it rests satisfied; he will not be visited by harm.
  10. Psalm 111:10: The love of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.
  11. Ecclesiastes 12:13: Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Love God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

Perfect love casts out all fear.

And since Jesus redeemed us from the curse of the law, reconciling us back to God…love gets to trade places with fear.
