The power of day and night

“… but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein…” – Joshua 1:8

Everything in creation was made by the Word.

Things seen, things unseen, it was all made by the Word, of the Word and for the Word.

The Word is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword.

It’s not inspirational sentiment or optimistic propaganda. The Word is a Carpenter and building contractor that goes to work rearranging and realigning things in your life.

But above all, the Word is a seed…a seed that springs and grows up “night and day” (Mark 4:27).

Understanding this dynamic is the key to releasing the harvest from every Word you receive.

On a basic level, you need to water the Word you receive by pondering it and envisaging it “day and night”. Don’t be indifferent to it. Give it your utmost attention and focus. Make a big deal about it. Take immediate action on it like your life depends on it.

And yes, you need to do this with each Word you receive…so remember the wisdom of “pick one”.

As you give attention to the Word, you will see it spring up in your life; “first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear.” (Mark 4:28)

(Watch out for “coincidences” and happenings that share the theme of what you’re meditating on. Don’t disregard them, especially when they seem “small and insignificant”).

But at a deeper level, whilst you are commanded to meditate on the Word “day and night”…we see the Word working “night and day”.

So even before you begin to go to work on the Word, the Word is already working on you to bring you to the point of working on it.

Why?

Because it is God who works in you both to will and to do according to His good pleasure.

Get to this mind!

This

“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth…” Joshua 1:8

Not that one…This one.

Yes there are others that are more popular, look more appealing and seem more exciting.

But trust Me…the end result is not good success.

Don’t define yourself by the distractions and shiny new objects that keep being thrown at you.

Instead, embrace your This…and don’t worry about everyone else’s that.

10 thoughts about Laws

“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth…” Joshua 1:8

Laws exist whether you want them to or not.

Laws work whether you believe in them or not.

Everything is governed by laws that are not dependent on your awareness of them.

Awareness and understanding of the laws at work in your situation is the first step towards getting unstuck.

Example laws include:

* Gravity
* Aerodynamics
* Thermodynamics
* Sowing and reaping
* Death and life in the power of the tongue
* Transformation through Meditation

God has set His Word (His laws) above His Name…meaning He is duty bound as God to uphold them.

There are physical laws (gravity, aerodynamics, etc)…relational laws (10 commandments, 7 habits of highly effective people, how to win friends and influence people etc)…and spiritual laws (sowing and reaping, tithing, asking in faith, taking care of widows and orphans etc).

Spiritual laws govern everything…but if you don’t know what they are you can’t operate them on purpose.

A law can be a servant or a master, depending on your level of knowledge and understanding in how to operate that law.

There is a law of liberty of life in Christ Jesus.

(Bonus thoughts)

Laws work regardless of who you are.

The key to success and prosperity is meditating day and night on this Book of the Law…not the other ones.

And finally from Jeff Bezos:

If you want to build a successful, sustainable business, don’t ask yourself what could change in the next ten years that could affect your company.

Instead, ask yourself what won’t change [me: eg laws], and then put all your energy and effort into those things.

The magic and mystery of boldness

Yes, be bold and strong! Banish fear and doubt! For remember, the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Just do it. – Nike

Screw it, let’s do it – Richard Branson

Boldness has genius and magic in it. – Goethe

And a million other songs, slogans and sayings that are desperately trying to get you to do one thing:

Be bold.

Stand out. Do it “with more intensity”. Make a ruckus. Do it on purpose.

Fo some reason, God seems to really love and respond to the smell of bold, fearless action.

Step one

I don’t know where this is going. But wherever it does, the only way to get there is by taking a first step.

Not a perfect step, not a confident step, and not even a step with a guarantee of others to follow.

Don’t worry about that.

Just do what you can with what you have right now.

Because that’s step one.
