Don’t be slack with it

Proverbs 10:4 KJV — He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.

You’ve got your hands on an opportunity.

Don’t let your hands be slack with it.

Diligence, focus, determination and intention are the ingredients that your hands need you to bring to this moment.

Use your weapons

2 Corinthians 10:4 KJV — (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)

You’re in a battle that’s already been won in the spirit realm.

You’ve been given weapons to enforce that victory in the physical realm.

Use your weapons.

Pursuit of excellence

Proverbs 8:6 KJV — Hear; for I will speak of excellent things; and the opening of my lips shall be right things.

The pursuit of excellence leads you to the Word of God.

The Bible isn’t an ancillary religious text.

The Bible is the wisdom of God made manifest.

Getting into the Word will transform you into an expression of excellence.

Quick draw

James 1:19 KJV — Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:

Swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.

How fast are your ears when it comes to the Word of God?

Escape requires humility

Proverbs 6:3 KJV — Do this now, my son, and deliver thyself, when thou art come into the hand of thy friend; go, humble thyself, and make sure thy friend.

You can’t try to look good and get free at the same time.

Wanting to hold onto the familiar/your current image is part of the snare.

Freedom requires humility.

Say unto THIS Mountain

Mark 11:23 KJV — For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

Be specific in what you’re speaking to.

Say to this mountain and not that one.

Get out of the way

Proverbs 4:8 KJV — Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her.

Wisdom needs you to get out of the way.

Your job is to promote her.

Her job is to promote you, but she can’t do it with you insisting on directing how it happens.

This is a collaboration directed by wisdom.

And even as you are involved, your job is to make sure you’re not in the way.

The Lord is your confidence

Proverbs 3:26 KJV — For the LORD shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken.

The Lord is your confidence.

He’s your confidence when it comes to life after death.

The Lord is your confidence in all things that pertain to life before death.

The Lord is your confidence.

Counsel, way and seat

Psalm 1:1 KJV — Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

Walking in counsel, standing in the way, sitting in the seat.

Following ungodly counsel, standing in the manner/way of life that’s separate from the Covenant, sitting in the seat of scoffers and mockers.

Just not doing these things causes you to align with blessings.

Maybe the next move is figuring out what not to do…and then eliminate it from your To Do list.

Setting expectations up front

Proverbs 1:1 KJV — The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel;

That’s the opening line of Proverbs.

The rest of the chapter goes on to spell out what to expect and what the benefits of this book are to the reader. It does so in a way that’s germane to this genre of wisdom literature.

And therein is some wisdom for communicating ideas.

Set the frame of your Audience’s expectations early. The frame dictates the experience and manages expectations: here’s what you can expect, and here’s what you won’t expect.

And then, with the frame in place you can create ways to surprise the reader by giving them what they expect in ways they’re not expecting.

You can also give them what they’re not expecting in ways that they’ll be glad to receive it.

Wisdom sets the frame early.
