Keep God’s Word

Proverbs 7:1 KJV — My son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments with thee.

The Word of God is pure, true and incorruptible. It has the power to transform your life if you’ll dare to mix it with faith in your heart.

Keep God’s word inside you and it will transform your life and the world around you.

What time is it?

Proverbs 6:8 KJV — Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.

The ant provides her meat in the summer.

There’s a timing aspect connected to her provision.

In seeking provision, don’t forget about the role of timing.

Maybe you’re doing the right thing at the wrong time or in the wrong season.

What time is it?

Don’t give it away

Proverbs 5:9 KJV — Lest thou give thine honour unto others, and thy years unto the cruel:

It’s not that your honour and years will be taken from you. It’s that you would be giving them away. To others and to the cruel.

Don’t give it away.

Keep your honour and lifespan by keeping yourself away from that which is outside your Covenant in Jesus.

Guard your hunger

Matthew 5:6 KJV — Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

Stay hungry. Stay thirsty.

Guard your capacity for wanting more.

Nurture a perpetual hunger for more of all that God has provided for you.

Satiety is simply a platform for seeing how much further the horizon is.

Stay hungry.

Good doctrine

Proverbs 4:2 KJV — For I give you good doctrine, forsake ye not my law.

Good doctrine.

If there’s good doctrine then that means there is bad doctrine.

Just because it’s being taught doesn’t mean you need to learn it.

On stillness

Psalm 46:10 KJV — Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

Be still. rāp̄â.

Sink down. Withdraw. Refrain. Let alone. Be quiet. Be slack.

Relax.

That’s your posture on the inside in which you actively know – engage in intimacy with – God.

Knowing and saying

Luke 22:41-42 KJV — And he was withdrawn from them about a stone’s cast, and kneeled down, and prayed, Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.

Jesus already knew the will of His Father. All through the four gospels, He expressed and explained His purpose, His reason for being to those close to Him. (LUKE 18:31-33).

Jesus wasn’t praying because of what He didn’t know.

Jesus prayed in order to share how He felt to His heavenly Father.

An insight about prayer is that it’s an opportunity for you to spend time chatting with the Lord and sharing what’s in your heart.

Prayer is powerful. Prayer is transformational. And on this side of the resurrection, prayer is simply spending time with the Lord, sharing what’s in your heart.

You’re not praying to inform God. You’re praying to be transformed by the event and daily habit of talking to the Lord.

Say what it is

Proverbs 1:1 KJV — The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel;

The proverbs.

That’s the opening salvo of this book.

Not: the psalms, or the songs or the jokes or the lamentations.

The proverbs.

Say what is. Be up front about it.

Let your readers know what they’re dealing with.

You don’t need to have a vision

Proverbs 29:18 KJV — Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.

Instead, a vision needs to have you.

You need to be a bondservant of something that is bigger than you.

You need to be the slave of something unseen that is dictating your actions in the seen realm.

It starts with you seeing something.

But once you’ve seen it, the next step is to submit to what you have seen.
