You are not a puppet

Psalm 119:59 KJV — I thought on my ways, and turned my feet unto thy testimonies.

You have agency. You have the ability to think about your ways, your habits, your manner of life, and turn your feet to line up with God’s way of doing things.

You are not a puppet.

Making or becoming

Proverbs 10:4 KJV — He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.

Making is active and proactive. Becoming is passive, the result of inaction and slackness.

There’s no neutral zone.

Which one are you engaged with right now?

Building not stealing

Proverbs 9:1 KJV — Wisdom hath builded her house, she hath hewn out her seven pillars:

Wisdom builds her house (Proverbs 9:1).

The foolish woman steals (Proverbs 9:17).

Are you building or stealing?

Absolute certainty

Mark 11:24 KJV — Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

I’m going to master my scales. That’s the determination I’m feeling now. There is no doubt about it. I want to do it, I’ve asked God for help, and I have 100% certainty of victory. I’m not practising with the hope of getting what I’m after. I’m practising because I have an absolute conviction that what I’m pursuing is already mine. Faith of a child. This is how I prayed about only getting 4s (As) as a kid, and also about going to basketball camp. This is mine and I’m going to have it. The same thing is true of healing and prosperity and long life and anything else you desire when you pray. It’s mine. I’m here to take it. It’s a done deal.

At your fingertips

Proverbs 7:3 KJV — Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the table of thine heart.

That’s where you need to keep the Word of God. At the ready, ready to use.

At your fingertips and under your fingernails.

The hands reveal what you’ve been working on all day.

Snared by the words that you say

Proverbs 6:2 KJV — Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth.

…and snared by the words that you don’t say.

Words are double-edged swords that cut both ways in speech and in silence.

Death and life are in the power of the tongue.

Serving the word

Proverbs 5:1 KJV — My son, attend unto my wisdom, and bow thine ear to my understanding:

Attend to it, like a waiter in a restaurant or a barrista in a coffee shop.

Your job is to attend unto the Word of God.

What is God teaching you?

Proverbs 4:2 KJV — For I give you good doctrine, forsake ye not my law.

God is teaching you.

You, not “us” or “them”.

He’s teaching you as an individual the things He wants you to learn…the laws that operate in your life.

There are things He teaches you alongside others.

But there are specific things that He’s teaching you that you need to pay attention to…without looking for consensus or for others to also be learning them.

What is God teaching you?

Don’t lean on it

Proverbs 3:5 KJV — Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

You’ve got it, but you’re not to lean on it.

So why have I got it then?

As an opportunity for you to use your free will to choose to trust in the Lord, rather than yourself.

Tree of life rather than the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

Trust in the Lord.

The importance of being earnest

Proverbs 2:4 KJV — If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;

Whatever you desire when you pray.

Ask, seek, knock.

The widow who gave the magistrate no rest but petitioned him night and day.

Being earnest, desperate, insistent and persistent are necessary elements of life in God’s Kingdom.

The temperature of your desire and fervor affects your ability to receive from God.
