Overnight success

And the house, when it was in building, was built of stone made ready before it was brought thither: so that there was neither hammer nor axe nor any tool of iron heard in the house, while it was in building.

1 Kings 6:7

Overnight success is simply the quick assembly of pieces that were crafted over decades in obscurity.

The noise, chaos, tedium, isolation, frustration don’t make sense now. But they’re the byproduct of your life as a building site.

You’re being shaped into a masterpiece that will be “suddenly” assembled far away from where you are now.

Keep going. Your overnight success is waiting for you.

Hatred and separation

Luke 6:22 KJV — Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man’s sake.

Hatred and separation are not pleasant to experience.

And yet verse 23 shows that we are capable of rejoicing and leaping for joy whilst being hated and isolated and “cancelled” for Jesus’ sake.

Jesus would never command us to do something that we’re unable to do. He is just.

The hatred and separation aren’t a sign of failure, but of your faithfulness to the Lord.

First the garden…

Genesis 2:8 KJV — And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.

…And then the man.

That’s the Divine Order.

God always starts with providing for what He intends to create.

Everything you need was already provided before you got here.

Selah.

First remove the doubt

Hebrews 4:2 KJV — For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.

Faith without works is dead, being alone.

They heard the word but didn’t mix it with faith.

How do you mix the word you’ve heard with the faith that God has already given you?

The first step is: don’t doubt.

Eliminate anything contrary to the Word of God from your thinking.

A little leaven leavens the whole loaf.

The issue may not be about your faith, but about the need to eliminate doubt and unbelief from the mix.

Remove the doubt that is keeping your faith from mixing with the Word.

What God will do for you

Isaiah 42:16 KJV — And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them.

The Old Covenant in the Bible is based on what God will do for you, not on what you will do for God.

The New Covenant that we’re under is even better. It’s based on what God has done for you, and not what you will do for God.

Neither one is based on you or your works.

All you have to do is believe and receive God’s finished work for you.

Wife of thy youth

Proverbs 5:18 KJV — Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth.

Proverbs 5:18 KJV — Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth.

Analyse this verse, regarding the Bible as an objective expression of universal  and absolute truth, and examine the phrase “wife of thy youth” in the original Hebrew and the context of all Scripture. Could this be talking to someone who is no longer a youth meaning that it is an expectation of Scripture that enjoyment happens beyond youth? What sort of age could this be?

Analysis of Proverbs 5:18 (KJV)

“Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth.”

1. Objective Truth in Scripture

From an absolute and universal standpoint, the Bible presents Proverbs as wisdom literature inspired by God, offering divine principles for life. Proverbs 5, in particular, warns against adultery and promotes marital faithfulness as a source of blessing.

2. Hebrew Examination of “Wife of Thy Youth”

The phrase “wife of thy youth” in Hebrew is אֵשֶׁת נְעוּרֶיךָ (eshet neʿurekha).

  • אֵשֶׁת (eshet) – “wife”
  • נְעוּרֶיךָ (neʿurekha) – “your youth” (from na’ar, meaning youth or young manhood)

This phrase appears in other parts of Scripture, such as Malachi 2:14-15, where it refers to a man’s covenant with the wife he married when he was young, reinforcing the idea of lifelong commitment.

3. Context: Not Just for the Young

The command to “rejoice” with the wife of one’s youth implies a lifelong enjoyment, not limited to youth itself. It suggests:

  • A husband remains faithful to the wife he married in his youth.
  • He continues to take joy in her as they age together.
  • The principle of blessing extends beyond youth into old age.

4. What Age Is Implicit?

Since this is directed at a man who had a wife in his youth, but is still commanded to rejoice, it necessarily applies to an older man. This could mean:

  • Middle age (40s-50s), when some men are tempted to midlife crises.
  • Old age (60s-80s), when physical affection and companionship still hold deep significance.

5. Supporting Scripture

  • Ecclesiastes 9:9 – “Live joyfully with the wife whom thou lovest all the days of the life of thy vanity…” (reinforces a lifelong perspective).
  • Malachi 2:14-15 – Condemns faithlessness to the “wife of thy youth,” implying she remains one’s wife even in old age.
  • Song of Solomon 4:9-10 – Celebrates marital delight and love beyond the fleeting nature of youth.

Conclusion

Yes, Proverbs 5:18 implies an expectation that enjoyment of one’s wife is not confined to youth but extends throughout life. The phrase “wife of thy youth” acknowledges the passage of time and insists on continued delight even into old age. This is a countercultural perspective in a world that often devalues lifelong commitment in favour of temporary passion.

The next six days

Exodus 20:11 KJV — For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

In six days, the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea and all that is in them.

The known and unknown Universe, and spiritual realities beyond that, were made in less than a week.

The same God who accomplished that lives in you.

What will you let Him do through you in the next six days?

Labour not to be rich

Proverbs 23:4 KJV — Labour not to be rich: cease from thine own wisdom.

Labour not to be rich.

In all labour, there is profit. But, the profit isn’t to be your reason for labouring.

Make sure your labour is driven by a reason bigger than higher than mere money.

Money is the fruit not the root of the tree.

Perfection is complete

Psalm 138:8 KJV — The LORD will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O LORD, endureth for ever: forsake not the works of thine own hands.

Perfection means completion, brought to the full.

The Lord will bring to the full that which concerns me.

Everything has already been paid for on the Cross. Now, the work is to complete that process in your life.

The work is to cause you to fully enjoy all that has been fully provided…until His perfection is complete in your life.

In HIS own body

Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

1 Peter 2:24 KJV

In HIS own body…not yours.

Jesus took ALL of it and contained it within the physical space of HIS own body on the tree…so you don’t have to contend with any of it within the physical  space of your body.
