God is watching you

Proverbs 15:3 KJV — The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.

God is watching you.

This is not a warning or a chastisement or a throwaway admonition to “be good”.

Are you kidding me?

GOD, the Creator of the Universe, is watching you.

Right now.

He’s clicked, liked, subscribed and DM’d you.

He’s got notifications turned on and His eyes are watching and waiting to see you and everything to do with you.

God’s numbered the hairs on your head. He’s collected your tears in a bottle. He’s intimately acquainted with every thought you think and word you speak before you think or speak them.

God is watching you.

Or put another way: God sees you.

He sees you and He loves you.

That’s the basis for your response to Him.

Strong confidence

Proverbs 14:26 KJV — In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge.

Strong confidence. Rock-solid certainty. A place of refuge. An impenetrable fortress. An all encompassing forcefield.

That’s what the fear of the Lord was under the old covenant.

That’s what the love of God is under the new covenant.

Resting in God’s love for you is the root of strong confidence aka faith.

God’s love for you is your place of refuge.

Wealthy and abundant

Proverbs 13:22 KJV — A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children’s children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just.

You are wealthy and abundant. You have more than enough, you are more than enough. You have relevance and impact across multiple generations. You are a blessing to your children’s children’s children’s children’s children’s…You are the Head and not the tail. You have no want and no lack. You have all authority. You are the righteousness of God.

As He is, so are you in this world.

Keep tilling

Proverbs 12:11 KJV — He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with bread: but he that followeth vain persons is void of understanding.

Keep tilling.

Keep working your ground. Keep showing up. Keep ripping out the weeds. Keep watching over the boundaries around your land. Keep standing your ground against those who would steal it. Keep focused on the harvest that’s buried in your field. Keep giving it the time and attention it needs to emerge.

Don’t grow weary in doing good.

You will receive if you faint not.

6A.M reflections

Proverbs 11:5 KJV — The righteousness of the perfect shall direct his way: but the wicked shall fall by his own wickedness.

6a.m

Washed upon the shore…Move, lest sand turn to quicksand…Eating you alive.

You’ve got an inner guidance system that is powered by your identity: righteous or wicked.

You’re righteous if you are trusting in the finished work of Jesus on the Cross.

You’re wicked if you’re anything else, no matter how great the branding and packaging.

Today is not a rehearsal of yesterday. Identical twins are each still unique.

The measure of who you are isn’t the brief span of this present age.

Eternal judgement is merely act of seeing this moment by the light of eternity, and acting in line with who you are in Christ.

There is a hereafter.

What’s in your hand?

Proverbs 10:4 KJV — He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.

What’s in your hand (statement).

What’s in your hand (question)?

Diligence or slackness.

Different degrees of forceful tension and intention.

The slack hand makes poor.

The diligent hand makes rich.

That’s the power that’s in your hand.

Go in the way of understanding

Proverbs 9:6 KJV — Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding.

Go in the way of understanding. Walk in the way that you can see with your heart by the light of the Word of God. There are things that the Word helps you just “get”. Don’t wait for consensus.

Walk today in the light of understanding. Tomorrow will be glad that you did.

Goodbye Lot

And the LORD said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward:

Genesis 13:14

God shows Abram his inheritance after Lot was separated from him. So maybe your vision isn’t clear because of who you are still in relationship with.

But rather than the typical criticism about how Abram/Abraham shouldn’t have taken Lot with him in the first place, there’s another insight here.

Sometimes separation takes time.

It sometimes takes time to separate the real you from the old you. It takes time to separate Abram from Abraham. It takes time to replace guilt-ridden obligations (looking after your dead brother Haran’s son) with the impracticalities of proximity: the land is unable to sustain both of us staying together (Genesis 13:6)

Sometimes it takes time to be able to say goodbye to Lot. But that’s okay. This is a journey. God knows how to get you there, and He knows how much time you need to say goodbye to Lot.

Inheritance of intimacy

Proverbs 8:21 KJV — That I may cause those that love me to inherit substance; and I will fill their treasures.

Inheritance is a function of relationship and intimacy. The nature of your relationship and the quality of your relationship determine the nature and quality of your inheritance. That’s why King Charles the 3rd became the next king of England and not Chuck Norris.

Since the industrial revolution and amplification of the concept of “the working class” by both capitalists and communists, the idea (and virtue) of wealth as a thing to be earned has been firmly established.

But this recent historical development has distracted many from the understanding that wealth and riches are things to be received and passed on through inheritance.

There’s a forward compounding momentum as wealth and riches pass from one generation to the next. The work and diligence is to maintain and grow what has been received, not to start again from scratch every 40 years or so.

Inheritance comes out of the intimacy of your relationships. This applies to your relationship with music. There is wisdom you’ll just receive because you keep spending time in fellowship with your instrument. And that wisdom will cause you to inherit substance.

Don’t chase the money. And don’t chase the crowds. Pursue intimacy in your relationship with the Word, and let the rest be added to you.

Slowly, step by step

Proverbs 7:3 KJV — Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the table of thine heart.

Slowly, step by step.

Slowly, step by step, is where you live.

Slowly, step by step, is much faster than you think.

Slowly, step by step, is a process.

Slowly, step by step, is how you put down roots.

Slowly, step by step, is how you let the Word get firmly rooted in your heart.

Slowly, step by step, is how you’ll get to your real destination.

Slowly, step by step, is how you’ll realise that the destination is merely the catalyst for your transformation.

Where you go is not as important as who you’ll become along the way.
