You live in a world full of enticement. A world full of shiny, sparkly, colourful and alluring people, places, things and opportunities.
It’s important to acknowledge that the things that entice you actually are enticing. They are things that are intriguing, enchanting and desirable to your Body and Soul.
This is important to acknowledge, particularly if you’ve been told that something isn’t enticing. Because when you can see that it is, then that disconnect can feel like a justification for exploring that which entices you.
However, not all the berries in the forest are good for you to eat. And not everything or everyone you encounter today is something you need to say “Yes” to. Some of it, you need to reject because its designed to destroy you.Yes, you live in a world of enticing things. And yes, it’s okay to say “No” to all the pretty things that would seduce you away from the path.
Recently, a sheep herder noticed that a rattlesnake bit one of his sheep. In that area, it's the deadliest snake around and after it bit the sheep, the sheep's face swelled up and began to hurt terribly.
However, the rattlesnake didn't know the kind of blood that flows through the sheep because anti-venom is most often made from sheep's blood. After 2 days of swelling, the blood of the lamb (sheep) destroyed the venom of the snake.
Often the serpents (the enemy) of this life will reach out and bite us. They inject their poison into us but they cannot overcome the blood of the Lamb of God that washes away the sin of the world and the sting of death. Don't worry about the serpent or his bite, but instead, celebrate victory because the blood of the lamb has set us free from the power of sin and death (Romans 8:2).
"They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death." - Revelation 12:11
The Lord is my Shepherd, and snake-venom flows through my veins.
I don’t need the antidote. In Jesus I am the antidote.
