“A fool with no plan”

Proverbs 4:1 KJV — Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding.

T.Boone Pickens on the best piece of advice his father gave him:

“A fool with a plan can outsmart a genius with no plan any day,” he told Pickens. “And your mother and I think we have a fool with no plan. We think you’re wasting your time here in Stillwater. You’re not getting anywhere.”

His dad was right, Pickens wrote on LinkedIn in 2014. “I had to admit I wasn’t burning up the place.” But within a month of that visit, everything changed. He picked a track and switched his major. “I got a plan,” he says, “and I’ve had one ever since.”

Borrow not a few

2 Kings 4:3 KJV — Then he said, Go, borrow thee vessels abroad of all thy neighbours, even empty vessels; borrow not a few.

In other words, expand your capacity to receive from God.

The more vessels you have that need filling, the more that they will be filled.

When others cut back during hard times, dare to do what they would think is crazy when things are going well.

Do exploits. Give God carte blanche to bless you tremendously.

Memory is a team sport

Proverbs 3:1 KJV — My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments:

The way you don’t forget is to let your heart keep God’s commandments.

Heart is your Soul + Spirit.

Which means your (Mind, Will and Emotions) + your Spirit involved in the act of “not forgetting”.

The Lord said that the Holy Spirit will bring things to our remembrance. (John 14:26)

We have an unction from on high and we know all things. (1 John 2:20)

We also have the mind of Christ (1 Cor 2:16)

Memory is a team sport. Stop trying to do it just with your brain.

Launch out into the deep

Luke 5:4 KJV — Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught.

You don’t catch big fish by clinging to the safety of the shore.

Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a draught.

Prepared by God

Psalm 23:5 KJV — Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

Great news: God is the ONE who has prepared a table for you in the presence of your enemies.

He’s already done it.

God is waiting on you to choose

Proverbs 1:29 KJV — For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD:

God has already done everything possible to bless you, prosper you, heal you  and He’s placed all of that inside your Spirit.

So if you’re not experiencing God’s abundance, the issue isn’t with God.

The issue is to do with how you’re using your power to choose.

Choose to agree with God’s word. Choose to take every thought captive. Choose to reject lies. Choose to resist the enemy. Choose to walk in the spirit and not in the flesh. Choose to call those things which are not as though they were. Choose to speak life over your situation. Choose to expect and imagine the best. Choose to say yes to God’s best. Choose to refuse to settle for less than everything Jesus paid for on the Cross.

How are you going to choose today?

Hear and increase

Proverbs 1:5 KJV — A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:

Hearing the Word will cause you to increase.

Hearing.

To hear with attention or interest.

To listen to or yield to.

Hear and increase.

Thoroughly grounded

Colossians 2:7 KJV — Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.

Rooted. Rizoō. To cause to strike root. To strengthen with roots. To render firm, to fix, to establish.

To cause a person or thing to be thoroughly grounded.

Tried and tested

Proverbs 30:5 KJV — Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.

Everything God says has been tried and tested.

Like silver tried in a furnace seven times, every thought that He has expressed has been tried and tested before it has been spoken.

You can trust what God says more than anything and anyone else.

Teaching, instruction and guidance

Psalm 32:8 KJV — I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.

God is instructing you.

God is teaching you.

God is guiding you with His eye.

That’s what’s happening in your Spirit (as distinct from your Soul and Body).

So if you’re not sure of what to do, make sure you’re in the right classroom.
