Rock, paper, scissors…shush

Proverbs 17:1 KJV — Better is a dry morsel, and quietness therewith, than an house full of sacrifices with strife.

In the rock-paper-scissors games of life, quietness (“shush”) is the winning determining factor.

Feeding your soul in peace is more important than indulging your flesh’s craving for particular foods.

Seek peace and pursue it.

Speak it into being

Proverbs 16:30 KJV — He shutteth his eyes to devise froward things: moving his lips he bringeth evil to pass.

Shut your eyes, open your mouth and speak your meditations into existence.

This works for good as well as for evil.

Don’t just wait for it. Speak it into being.

The cringe point

1 Corinthians 1:27 KJV — But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;

If it’s not embarrassing, then you’re doing it wrong.

That’s the gem shared by Karin and Linford from Over the Rhine, and it seems to resonate at the same frequency as the verse in 1 Corinthians 1:27.

When driving a manual car, you look for the “bite point” when using the clutch and the accelerator. Get this bit wrong and the car stalls.

Maybe you need to be looking for the “Cringe point” in whatever you’re working…the point where you feel exposed, weak and totally dependent on the Lord.

The Cringe point is where your weakness locks into God’s strength.

I’m not afraid of me

Psalm 23:1 KJV — A Psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

Because the Lord is my Shepherd, I shall fear no evil…not even from myself.

I’m not afraid of you, I’m not afraid of me, I’m not afraid of any source of evil…not even the evil of me messing things up.

I’m not afraid of me, because I’m not my own Shepherd.

The Lord is.

Promises and nature

2 Peter 1:4 KJV — Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

God’s promises come out of God’s nature.

And God’s promises are given as a way for us to partake in His nature.

He’s given is His promises in order to give us Himself.

Not ashamed of the gospel

Romans 1:16 KJV — For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

Regardless of all the things I could be ashamed of in my life, the Gospel isn’t one of them.

In fact, the Gospel has redeemed me from all that would have kept me bound in shame.

I’m not ashamed of the One who redeemed me and freed me from guilt, condemnation and shame.

Hallelujah!

Stay connected to the Vine

John 15:5 KJV — I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

Your spirit is one spirit with the Lord, according to 1 Corinthians 6:17. Your spirit couldn’t be more connected to the Lord.

The issue is to do with your Soul: mind, will and emotions.

Keep the awareness of your Soul connected to the reality of the Word.

That’s how you let the fruit of the Word flow to you effortlessly.

Forbidden of the Holy Ghost

Acts 16:6 KJV — Now when they had gone throughout Phrygia and the region of Galatia, and were forbidden of the Holy Ghost to preach the word in Asia,

Forbidden.

Hindered, prevented, withheld from, kept from.

Part of being led by the Holy Spirit involves the dynamic of being forbidden.

There’s a resistance that comes from being opposed.

And there’s a resistance that comes from being forbidden and restrained by the Holy Spirit.

They may look the same, but they’re not.

Part of walking in wisdom is discerning the difference.

Maybe it’s just four lepers

2 Kings 7:6 KJV — For the Lord had made the host of the Syrians to hear a noise of chariots, and a noise of horses, even the noise of a great host: and they said one to another, Lo, the king of Israel hath hired against us the kings of the Hittites, and the kings of the Egyptians, to come upon us.

It sounds as if you’re being attacked by the Hittities and the Egyptians, mighty nations who will plunder and destroy you.

But Maybe it’s just four hungry lepers coming to ask you for something to eat.

What are you hearing?

Be careful of jumping to conclusions outside of talking to the Lord.

What are you hearing?

2 Kings 7:6 KJV — For the Lord had made the host of the Syrians to hear a noise of chariots, and a noise of horses, even the noise of a great host: and they said one to another, Lo, the king of Israel hath hired against us the kings of the Hittites, and the kings of the Egyptians, to come upon us.

What are you hearing? And what does it mean?

In between hearing and responding, make sure you check with the Lord.

Take care how you hear.
