Deep in your bones

Sometimes I say to myself, “I will forget about him. I will not speak anymore in his name.” But when I say that, his message is like a fire burning inside me! It feels like it is burning deep in my bones! I get tired of trying to hold his message inside. And finally, I am not able to hold it in. – Jeremiah 20:9

The gift you’ve been called to share with the world, is the fire that you feel burning right within your bones.

It’s a slight perspective, a bold opinion, a nagging irritation, an outrageous obsession that you couldn’t get rid of if you tried (and you have tried).

You’ve tried to walk away from it, you’ve tried to make fun of it, you’ve tried to play it down and make fun of it…you’ve tried dropping it off bundled in a wicker basket outside the front door of a stranger with an anonymous note and then jumped in your car after ringing the doorbell and raced far, far away from it.

But even as that stirring basket dims in your rear-view mirror, you sigh. Because no matter how far you drive, that thing God placed within you when he sent you isn’t the baby in the basket.

It’s the fire that burns deep in your bones that gets you to go back for that basket…every single time.
