Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.
Jeremiah 33:3
So why do you even have to ask?
One answer: asking reveals capacity.
Asking shows that you think you’re ready for more…which is a good indicator that you might be ready for more.
Asking reveals that you are not content to maintain the status quo. Whether it’s wanting a child, another biscuit, an answer to a question, freedom from bondage or more land…asking shows that you aren’t willing to remain where you are right now.
God isn’t going to force feed His infinity to His finite creation, anymore than a parent would force feed a buffet to their toddler.
Love proactively determines the capacity of those being loved. Love acknowledges and respects the boundaries and limitations of this capacity. Love won’t give you more than you’re willing to handle.
And the way you signal your capacity…is through asking.
