Proverbs 23:1 KJV — When thou sittest to eat with a ruler, consider diligently what is before thee:
The phrase “Consider diligently” is a translation of one Hebrew word repeated twice.
Bîn, bîn.
Consider. Pay attention. Be attentive. Keep your wits about you. Observe. Notice what’s going on. Be alert to the details. See what’s happening. See the connections, themes, symmetry and poetry. Know the number and nature of everything you see, and everything you don’t see (with your eyes). See the history. See the chemistry. See the geometry. Observe the sequence of events.
And then do that twice over.
That’s how much effort or energy you need to have when you’re in the presence of a ruler.
