Daniel 1:6 KJV — Now among these were of the children of Judah, Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah:
We hear about Daniel and his 3 friends, but they weren’t the only characters in the story.
They were among the children of Judah.
They were among other Jews who had a covenant with God through Abraham. They were among other Jews of the nation of Judah, part of King David’s legacy.
They were among the Jews who: had a Covenant, were part of David’s legacy, and who had no blemish, were well favoured, skilful in all wisdom, cunning in knowledge, understanding science, with the ability to stand in the King’s palace and be taught the learning and tongue of the Chaldeans (Daniel 1:4)
They were among the best of the best.
And despite having the same assets to work with, Daniel and his 3 friends stood out.
They stood out from among the best of the best.
