How to have whatever you say

For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. – Mark 11:23

Stripped down to its individual components:

  1. Whoever
  2. Says
  3. To this mountain
  4. “Be removed and be cast into the sea”
  5. Does not doubt
  6. In his heart
  7. But believes
  8. That those things he says will be done
  9. He will have whatever he says

Whoever: Anyone. No discrimination or disqualification by religion, gender, sexuality, morality…this is open to anyone and everyone.

Says: You’ve got to speak. Open your mouth, and release words outside of yourself.

To this mountain: Not to God, or your spouse, or Twitter, or your neighbours. You’ve got to speak to the mountain-size situation you are facing. Talk to it. It has ears. It can hear you. Talk to the mountain.

“Be removed and be cast into the sea”: Tell the mountain its final destination. Tell it what you want it to succumb to. You’re not telling it to jump into the sea. You’re telling it to “be removed and be cast into the sea”. You don’t need to know how (and neither does the mountain). You’re stating the final outcome that you require the mountain to submit to.

“Debts, be removed and be cancelled from all memory.”

“Sickness, be removed and be replaced by complete health.”

“Empty bank accounts, be filled with money and overflow with recurring income.”

Tell the mountain the final outcome that it is going to submit to.

Does not doubt: No double-mindedness. No wondering whether this is going to happen. No short-circuiting of your faith by questioning or reasoning against what you’ve said.

In his heart: Your mind, will and emotions. You’ve got to get total buy-in from all three about the words you’ve spoken to the mountain.

But believes: Pistis. Fully persuaded. Utterly convinced. Delusional and unswervingly confident. Rock-solid conviction about the absolute reality that you’ve stated to the mountain.

That those things he says will be done: You believe that your words will be acted upon. You don’t know by whom, or how. You just know that – like a King issuing an order – somebody is going to make it happen.

He will have whatever he says: When all the above are in alignment…you will have whatever you say.
