Moved with compassion

When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them and healed their sick. – Matthew 14:14

It won’t work if you don’t believe, and you won’t work It if you don’t care.

These are the rules for which everything contrary is an exception.

He could do no mighty works there because of their unbelief (Matthew 13:58). This shows us that while the optimum condition for the Word to work is belief/pistis/fully-persuaded conviction in the power of the Word…It can still function after a manner in the presence of unbelief.

But when it comes to compassion – splagchnizomai/pity/to be moved as to one’s bowels – Jesus often healed because He was moved with compassion for them.

In other words, His compassion for them triggered the release of miracles and power from Jesus that He might not have otherwise performed in that moment, save for the active force of Compassion for them.

2 insights.

#1 – if it’s not working in your life, check for and eliminate unbelief (it doesn’t matter what “it” is)

#2 – if you feel stuck or blocked, try seeing those for whom you can be moved with compassion…those who desperately need the gifts and abilities that you carry within you.

Allow yourself to be moved by what/who you feel compassion for, and before you know it, you’ll find yourself doing things you didn’t know you could do.

Remember:

It won’t work if you don’t believe, and you won’t work It if you don’t care.
