A question of timing

When Jesus said this, they tried to seize him. But no one was able to touch him, because it was not yet the right time. – John 7:30

For most things in life, “success” and “failure” are simply a question of timing.

Whether you’re telling a joke, planting a field of beans, launching a new product, getting pregnant, delivering lines on stage…All of these involve timing in an extremely integral way.

Some things happen simply because it’s their time. And other things don’t happen simply because it is not yet the right time for them to happen.

Jesus survived repeated attempts on His life in the early chapters of John simply because it was not the right time for Him to go. The script had all ready been written, with the pivotal death scene having already been set “on a hill far away, on an old rugged cross”.

Knowing this enabled Jesus to maintain a certain rhythm and groove despite the opposition around Him…cos He knew it was not yet His time.

And when John 13:1 came around and He knew that His time to die had arrived, He was able to embrace that moment – despite how He and others felt about it – because He knew it was just a question of timing.

“It is written…”

So as tempting as it can be to just throw yourself into the “hustle” and get frustrated when life doesn’t respond to your Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook…try stopping for a moment and letting your Spirit ask one question:

What time is it?

And then once you hear the answer, line up your actions accordingly.

Because your success and breakthrough are simply…a question of timing.
