And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. – Genesis 1:3
Light, be!
That was the first command God spoke to the darkness hovering over the face of the earth…and there was light.
Why was there light?
Because the darkness didn’t have the ability to agree or disagree with – or even comprehend (John 1:5) – the Word it received.
It just had to let it be exactly as it was spoken.
The same was true for everything else that God spoke to…except man.
Man, made in God’s image and after His likeness (Genesis 1:26) was given the ability and freedom to choose, to disagree, to disobey and to reject the Word he received.
Why?
Because in the same way that Jesus chooses to submit to the Father (John 6:38) and the Holy Spirit is submitted to Jesus (John 16:13-14), man was created to live in a role of freely given, loving submission to God.
And the power/ value of that submission came from the fact that man could choose not to submit out of rebellion…or he could choose to submit out of love.
Why is any of this important?
I think man’s ability to resist the Word through unbelief, ignorance, misunderstanding or just plain rebellion is the weapon being used to pick mankind out of the wealth he’s been provided through Jesus.
And so as impractical or simplistic as it may sound, the key to tapping into all that God has provided you…is to simply let it be.
By His stripes you were healed. (1 Peter 2:24)
Let it be.
He became poor that you through His poverty might be rich. (2 Cor 8:9)
Let it be.
Whosoever shall say into this mountain be removed and be cast into the sea…(Mark 11:23)
Let it be.
As Mary said in the Scriptures: whatever He says to you, do it. (John 2:5)
Let it be.
Let it be.
Let it be.
Or as they say in Greek: Amen. (Rev 22:21)
And so the Bible starts with a “Let it be and ends with an Amen…”Let it be/May it be so”.
This book-ending of “let it be’s” is not a coincidence.
Instead it’s the key to tapping into the power of the Word of God that He’s given to mankind:
Receive the Word and let it be whatever it wants to be in you and through you.
Let it be.
