For our struggle is not against human opponents, but against rulers, authorities, cosmic powers in the darkness around us, and evil spiritual forces in the heavenly realm. – Ephesians 6:12
First of all, there is a struggle. You know this because you’re in it, and you’re expending energy being engaged in it.
But here’s the thing: the struggle is not about what you see. It’s about everything that you don’t see.
Yes, you are engaging with flesh and blood opponents and physically manifest challenges and situations. But even as you engage with them, realise that the real battle is occurring in a realm beyond human perception.
Rulers, authorities, cosmic powers in the darkness around us, evil spiritual forces in the heavenly realm.
That’s the battleground you need to show up on in order to resist and drive out your adversary. This is the battleground where your spiritual weaponry can make a dent in the enemy. This is the battleground where you go beyond surviving battles to winning the war.
This is the place where you activate the spiritual weapons of praise, worship, intercession, meditating on the Scriptures, forgiveness, declarations, assassination of doubt and unbelief, prayer and fasting, love, generosity, resting in your identity in Christ…
Remember: the real warfare is occurring at a level beyond human perception.
And no matter how real or hurtful it feels…it’s not about what you can see, but about everything that you don’t see.
