Let not thine heart envy sinners: but\u00a0be thou<\/em>\u00a0in the fear of the LORD all the day long.<\/p>\nProverbs 23:17<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Here’s a cool thing to do when you read the OT as a born again New Testament believer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Replace “fear of the Lord” with “love of God”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here’s what this looks like:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Proverbs 1:7:<\/strong> The beginning of knowledge is the love of God<\/strong>, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Psalm 86:11:<\/strong> Teach me your way, O Lord, that I may walk in your truth; unite my heart to love your name<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Proverbs 14:26:<\/strong> In the love of God<\/strong> one has strong confidence, and his children will have a refuge.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Deuteronomy 10:12:<\/strong> And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you, but to love the Lord your God<\/strong>, to walk in all his ways, to love him<\/strong>, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. Psalm 25:14:<\/strong> The friendship of the Lord is for those who love him<\/strong>, and he makes known to them his covenant.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  6. Proverbs 3:7:<\/strong> Be not wise in your own eyes; love the Lord<\/strong>, and turn away from evil.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  7. Proverbs 9:10:<\/strong> The love of God<\/strong> is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  8. Psalm 119:105:<\/strong> Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  9. Proverbs 19:23:<\/strong> The love of God<\/strong> leads to life, and whoever has it rests satisfied; he will not be visited by harm.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  10. Psalm 111:10:<\/strong> The love of the Lord<\/strong> is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  11. Ecclesiastes 12:13:<\/strong> Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Love God<\/strong>, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Perfect love casts out all fear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
