Between the “Blessed is the man” promise of Psalm 1:1 and the “meditate day and night” instruction of Psalm 1:2 is a word that is easy to miss:<\/p>\n

Delight.<\/p>\n

Delight means to take pleasure in. It’s an intentional deliberate choice, and not something that just happens.<\/p>\n

Delight is different from enjoyment (which can be accidental or passive).<\/p>\n

The blessed man of Psalm 1 doesn’t enjoy the Word of God, he intentionally delights himself in it.<\/p>\n

And the result<\/b><\/i> of choosing to delight himself in it, is that he finds himself meditating in it day and night.<\/p>\n

So before you jump right into the disciplines of what you think you need to do to get a result…start with choosing to delight.<\/p>\n
