9 lessons on wisdom

Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him. – Matthew 2:2

Wisdom looks up – above the current situation – to see what’s happening in the heavenlies.

Wisdom notices what she sees, and takes note of the unusual e.g an unusual star in the East, a burning bush that is not consumed, a man walking on the water.

Wisdom perceives the significance of what she sees. This is no ordinary star. This one is special. Your willingness to perceive what’s actually going is the limiting factor.

Wisdom acts in specific accordance with what she specifically perceives.

Wisdom packs up her camels and journeys across the unknown towards the thing she has perceived. “If I may but touch the hem of his garment…speak the Word only…”

Wisdom journeys with the intention of worshipping Jesus. That is the purpose of her trip. It isn’t to seek answers like the Queen of Sheba. It is to simply be present in order to worship. Jesus is worthy of the inconvenience.

Wisdom is not afraid to worship Jesus. Jesus. Not “a higher power” or “Mother Nature”, but Jesus. God made flesh who dwelt among us.

Wisdom asks questions. “Where is He that is born King of the Jews?” The star they saw didn’t give them the answer up front. It simply showed them the direction of their quest. The details needed to be sought after and enquired after. Wisdom asks, seeks and knocks.
