He becomes poor who works with a lazy hand, but the hand of the diligent brings wealth. – Proverbs 10:4
People who don’t have goals end up working for those who do have goals.
Goals need to be S.M.A.R.T: Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Time-bound.
Time-bound refers to how you use your 168 hours each week, in the context of your calendar.
Your calendar is a garden, divided into plots of land – plots of stories – that you can develop over time. Your job is to mark out the boundaries between each plot, and then work your way round each plot in your garden, feeding each the attention and care it needs for the crop you’ve assigned it to grow. Really, a Day is just a word used to describe the ritual of caring for your 24 plots of land.
And just as Jerry Seinfeld spent years feeding red crosses to his calendar, as you diligently show up to feed your garden calendar each day, before you know it, your calendar will feed you…and generations to come.
