For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. – Mark 11:23
Imagine being able to have whatever you say.
Whatever you say.
Jesus shows us in Mark 11:22-24 that not only do we have this ability, but there are some key ingredients to doing this.
Here’s what usually gets focused on:
Speaking to the mountain and believing that you will have whatever you say.
But what usually gets missed out is this:
…and shall not doubt in his heart.
Refusing to doubt in his heart.
Refusing to doubt in your heart.
The Greek word for doubt in this verse is diakrino which means:
- to separate, make a distinction, discriminate, to prefer
- to learn by discrimination, to try, decide
- to determine, give judgment, decide a dispute
- to withdraw from one, desert
- to separate one’s self in a hostile spirit, to oppose, strive with dispute, contend
- to be at variance with one’s self, hesitate, doubt
Doubt is pervasive in our environment, but it is not inevitable.
Doubt does not have to have any place in your heart (mind+will+emotions).
You can choose to believe that whatever you say shall come to pass.
And having decided to believe that, refuse to allow anything to come between you and that belief.
Like the pyramids of Egypt, you can make it where it is impossible for even a sheet of paper to get between you and what you believe in your heart.
Don’t think differently from what you have spoken into being.
Don’t play out alternate scenarios which create negative emotions which reinforce those scenarios.
Don’t waver in your decision to hold fast and keep speaking in line with what you believe.
Decide to be doubt-proof.
Speak, believe…and refuse to allow doubt into your heart.
