And the LORD said unto David my father, Whereas it was in thine heart to build an house unto my name, thou didst well that it was in thine heart. – 1 Kings 8:19
God looks at the heart.
He doesn’t also look at the heart.
No.
God looks at the heart.
Where man looks on the outward appearance or outward circumstances, God doesn’t.
Instead, He looks at your heart.
Your heart is your Spirit and Soul (mind+will+emotions).
That’s what God looks at.
He looks at who you are in Christ.
He looks at the dreams and imaginations that you are cultivating in your mind.
He looks at the decisions you have made quietly within the corner office of your Will.
He looks at what you actually believe.
That’s what He looks at.
God looks at your heart.
That’s why you need to guard it (Proverbs 4:23)
Because the things in your heart that you are tempted to dismiss or treat flippantly…are the main attraction as far as God is concerned.
God looks at your heart.
And what’s in your heart…matters.
