He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with bread: but he that followeth vain persons is void of understanding. – Proverbs 12:11
When you’re hungry, the temptation can be to follow a trend or a person that promises to solve your problem.
But instead of following something, you need to follow through on something…which is tilling the land you’ve already got.
To till means to prepare and cultivate land for crops.
Tilling involves getting up early to exert yourself.
Tilling is ploughing, turning soil, breaking up stony ground, mixing in smelly fertiliser, uprooting weeds, clearing out pests.
Tilling isn’t glamorous or attention-grabbing.
Tilling is what you do long after any curious bystanders have moved on to the next curiosity.
Tilling is work that doesn’t immediately look as if it is working.
But if you’ll commit to the process of tilling what you’ve already got…you will be satisfied with bread.
