Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. – 2 Corinthians 12:9
Your greatest strength is your weakness. Your place of power is in the areas where you feel weak, feeble, useless and helpless. Your vulnerability is the greatest asset you possess.
That’s because your weaknesses are what attract God’s power to rest and work in you.
His power works best in your weakness.
So when He allows you to be whipped, flogged, betrayed, stabbed in the back, abandoned by all your friends and hurt by those you love…
When He nails your heart to a cross in the company of thieves, and had the crowds gather to mock you…
When He allows you to be pierced through by a Roman spear as you watch strangers casually cast lots and lay hold over that which belongs to you…
When the Bride who kissed you with lips of Hosanna runs off with a bad boy called Barabas, and signs you over to be crucified for a crime you didn’t commit…
When you’re bound in chains, beaten within an inch of your life, and thrown into the inner prison for daring to help someone who needed to be set free…
When this happens, it will look and feel like the end. It will look and feel as if God has forsaken you. You will look and feel completely helpless and hopeless.
And when you do, that’s when God goes to work on your behalf. That’s when God turns water into the best wine of all. That’s when God transforms a swaggering schemer into a limping Prince called Israel. That’s when God causes the Egyptians that you see today to be seen again no more.
Yes, it’s upside down and a totally weird way of doing things.
But it’s God’s M.O. That’s how He does things. He loves demonstrating His strength in the places of weakness. He loves bringing deliverance at the point that everyone’s written you off. He intentionally shows up to raise you from the dead after your body has been buried and rotting for 4 days…because when He shows up, no one but Him gets the glory.
So be encouraged everytime you are rendered vulnerable, helpless and feeling outgunned and overwhelmed.
Rejoice and get excited when you discover these moments.
Because when you are weak, then He is able to be strong through you.
Your vulnerability is your greatest asset.
