Declaration of Dependence

“I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing. – John 15:5

Apart from You I can do nothing.

A 7-word declaration of Dependence, where you highlight your insufficiency and total reliance on a Person from a higher realm.

It’s your confession that you are the lesser one in need of the aide of the Greater One.

It’s you being the vacuum that invites the Fullness of all Creation to diffuse into the space you’ve created.

It’s your exhalation that triggers His Inspiration.

It’s your weakness enabling His Strength to be made perfect.

It’s the antithesis of the twin deceptions in the world: self-reliant independence and worthless low self-esteem…neither of which acknowledge the Presence and Preeminence of God.

“Without you we’d be homeless,” they said…offering a shadow of this truth being used by writers, musicians and artists who realise their need to lean on their audience.

It’s something you must never forget; something that must be a constant meditation, day and night:

Apart from You I  can do nothing.

Because when you grasp this truth, like a silver coin fished out of a muddy puddle…you notice that on the other side of it is written:

I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me. (Philippians 4:13)
