I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them. – Ezekiel 36:27
The tyranny of Religion is that it looks at the effects – being moral, doing good, observing special days, helping others, following the rules etc – and then obsesses over convincing you that the cause of these effects…is you.
Your efforts, your discipline, your diligence, your “being a good person” or “doing more good than bad”.
But the great liberating news of the Gospel is that the Cause and Effect of your life….is God.
Instead of simply expecting you to walk in His ways, He causes you to walk in His ways. And He does that by putting His Spirit in you – His nature, His DNA – and then this nature replicates itself within you and translates itself into the expressions of walking like God.
You don’t observe God’s statutes/laws/principles in order to get close to God.
Instead, it starts with God putting His nature in you, transforming you back into your true nature…and then that nature causes you to do all the things you’ve been striving to do in your own strength.
Your work is not to try and do.
Your work is to receive the Word – the sperma of God – and then simply allow that Word to transform you and align you with the nature of God that you carry.
The external works will then just happen automatically. Because the nature you carry will do them as effortlessly and as unconsciously as your heart beating while you sleep.
