Perfect timing

Despite all of this, the senior security advisor not only didn’t remember Joseph, he deliberately forgot him. – Genesis 40:23

Which would you choose:

being in the right place at the wrong time, or being in the wrong place at the right time?

Of course, this is a trick question.

For starters, your steps are directed and ordered by the Lord. So gossiping about “choice” to someone whose life is no longer their own is sort of a foreign concept.

It’s also a trick question because “right” and “wrong” in this context are relative terms.

In isolation, you could say that it was “wrong” for Joseph to be thrown into a pit by his brothers, “wrong” for him to be sold into slavery, “wrong” for him to be falsely accused and thrown into prison, and “wrong” for the King’s cupboard to forget about him for 2 years.

But each of those “wrong” things were perfectly timed events that were orchestrated by God.

So the key to that trick question is: pick timing.

And in your own life, when you’re tempted to worry about the things going on in your life, choose to trust God’s ordering of your steps and choose to rest into His perfect timing.

They may forget you, neglect you, overlook you and leave you for dead locked away in a prison of obscurity…but all of this is actually working for your good.

And at the right time, the scene will turn in your favour and your life will never be the same again.

What man means for evil, God is working for your good.

Selah.
