Unstoppable

Jonathan said to his young helper who carried his weapons, “Come on, let’s go to the camp of those foreigners. Maybe the Lord will use us to defeat them. Nothing can stop the Lord—it doesn’t matter if we have many soldiers or just a few soldiers.” – 1 Samuel 14:6

Jonathan was a man who had a relationship with God through the Old Covenant of circumcision. And through this relationship, he understood that the God he served was able to save, regardless of circumstance.

This understanding inspired Jonathan and his armour bearer to step out in faith and experience the unstoppable nature of the God he served. And the result of this unified attack by 2 men against an entire Philistine garrison?

Great fear spread among the Philistine soldiers—those in the field, in the camp, and at the fort. Even the bravest soldiers were afraid. The ground began to shake, and they were completely overcome with fear. – 1 Samuel 14:15

Now, you are not the same as Jonathan. You are much more.

You have a new and better covenant than Jonathan (Hebrews 8:6)…a “new and living way” (Hebrews 10:20).

And where the Old Covenant was about God being with His people, the New Covenant is about God being in His people.

“With” is good, but “in” is better.

The Old Covenant was about “maybe the Lord will work for us” (1 Samuel 14:6). The New Covenant is about God “working in you to help you want to do what pleases him. Then he gives you the power to do it.” (Philippians 2:13)

Nothing can stop the Lord, and the Lord lives in you.

As He is, so are we in this world. (1 John 4:17)

So since He’s unstoppable – and He lives in you – then you’re unstoppable.

Go up against that garrison. The Lord is with in you.
