Body building

Yes, the body has many different parts, not just one part. – 1 Corinthians 12:14

The eye is completely different from the foot.

It’s smaller, plays no tangible role in supporting and transporting the human body, it’s extremely fragile and less robust than the foot…and yet it’s extremely vital to the well-being and survival of the body.

That’s what you are.

You’re different, unique and wonderfully weird…just how God designed you to be.

And the Body needs the potential of your distinctiveness to be fully expressed within it.

In other words, everything the eye can do and be as a member of the Body needs to be fully expressed for the benefit of the Body.

Or as Sally Hogshead put it: we don’t need you to change, we just need you to be more of who you already are.

2 thoughts on that point.

One, remember that you are part of something bigger than you; you’re a member of the Body of Christ. Your Head is the Word of God and you are connected to other members of the Body by lines of love and submission.

Two, knowing what you are – a member of the Body of Christ – pour your energy into building up the Body by serving it the essence of you.

You don’t need to try and impress the World system any more.

Instead your assignment is to build up the Body of Christ…by being more of who you already are.
